Wacken Open Air takes place on green fields, and we want to keep it that way. Please help us protect the environment and reduce the festival’s impact. All our efforts are part of Green Wacken. You can see what we have done and plan to do HERE.
Waste Management
Each guest gets a free black bag for regular trash and a yellow bag for
plastics at the wristband exchange. There are orange trash stations near the camping
areas to separate regular trash, plastics, and paper/cardboard. Starting July
28, 2025, Trash Mobiles will drive around the campsites to collect your full
bags and give out new ones.
Big trash like chairs, sofas, and fridges should be taken home after the
festival and disposed of properly. Please only bring or buy what you really
need.
Ballot Bins
Cigarette butts are very bad for the environment. To help with this, there
are 20 bright green Ballot Bins along the main paths where you can vote on
W:O:A topics with your cigarette butt.
When you leave, join the #greenwacken campaign:
Post a photo of your cleaned
campsite on Instagram with #greenwacken2025 between August 2 (8 AM) and August
4 (11:59 PM) for a chance to win cool prizes.
